Who was TT’s Miss Universe?
Trinidad & Tobago has won
this title on two occasions.
- In
1977, the judges could not deny this
woman of such beauty, and the title went
to Miss Janelle ‘Penny”
Commissiong, the first black
woman to win the crown. Also, taking the
title of Miss Photogenic, Penny brought
home T&T’s first Miss Universe crown.

History repeated itself in 1998, with
Wendy Fitzwilliam doing the
honours.
Also winning the prize for
Best National Costume, a piece entitled
“Freedom”, T&T was back on the map for
possessing some of the world’s most
beautiful women.

of substance – all women of T&T soil!
